Piya Becomes Happy
Jasmine was a pretty swan that lived in a lotus pond. She always remained cheerful and pleasant. Animals and birds loved her company. It was a cool drizzling dawn. Jasmine enjoyed swimming amidst lotuses. Suddenly, she saw Princy parrot sadly sitting on the nearby gulmohar tree.
“Why are you sad, Princy?” asked Jasmine. “I am worried of my daughter Piya. She remains gloomy, confused and anxious always” replied Princy. Jasmine thought for a while and asked Princy – “Who are her friends? How much time do you spend with your daughter?”
“I usually don’t allow Piya to mingle with others or waste time playing around. I want her to focus on her studies and become a popular doctor in future. Even, I don’t talk to her much so that Piya has enough time to study. But, I look after her well” replied Princy.
“Oh it’s so embarrassing” wondered pretty Jasmine – “Princy, you are only responsible for the sad state of your tiny tot. Happy parents are likely to have happy kids. But, mostly you remain anxious, sad and worried for the future of your daughter. And, that multiplies the grief and anxiety of Piya”. Princy asked – “Then, what should I do to keep my daughter happy and enthusiastic without spoiling her studies?”
“It is very simple, Princy” Jasmine continued – “Spend time with Piya joyously. Help her connect with other children for understanding about the world through her innocent and excited mind. Do not snatch her childhood. Let her just play and rejoice”.
The rain slightly increased. Jasmine and Princy looked up and drank pure rainwater, just for fun. A few reddish gulmohar flowers fell below. Minni mynah was listening to the serious discussions between Jasmine and Princy from top of the tree. Minni came near to Jasmine and Princy with a jackfruit on her beak. Three of them started eating the tasty jackfruit.
Minni said – “Jasmine is right. Childhood is the best and most innocent period in our life. Also, it’s is the time to lay strong foundation for the future life of our children with moral values, ethics, principles and ideals. Help them face the world more practically and realistically”.
Princy parrot nodded in agreement. Jasmine said – “We must help our children grow optimistically. We must identify their interests. Accordingly, we must guide them achieve their goal. We should not be imposing our dreams on them but help them fulfill their dreams with our support and guidance so that they remain happier in their life”.
Princy hugged Jasmine and rushed to her lovely daughter Piya. Princy carried sweet corns and some story books for Piya. Rain had stopped by then. Piya was surprised to see her mother happily talking and playing with her. Princy took Piya to other tiny birds. Little parrots, mynahs, sparrows and cuckoos welcomed Piya to their colourful world with lots of fun and excitement. Butterflies and dragonflies fluttered around them. In the night, Princy showed Piya the beautiful world of fireflies and glowworms. Princy, thus, helped Piya grow up happily by enjoying her childhood.
“Happy parents are likely to have happy kids” Princy said to others, happily and confidently!
